A lot of time I have been asked this question by many people. And I agree it is quite intriguing because it is not a word from dictionary and it is entirely made up from my name.

And answer lies exactly there – “it is all about me“.

I know since there is no such word in the dictionary it is my duty to define it. Well to define it I would reiterate it “It is all about me and myself. I have created it to define myself, it is going to be my identity to the world. It will involve all that characterizes myself be it my interest my work or anything concerning myself. I would develop it as a platform to showcase my work and express my views to the world.”

Now there arises a question why only “Alokation”? There could have been more better word. It sounds like some action or process. Yes correct It sounds like a process. And I would say it is a process of my self-realization and discovery of myself. As per dictionary any word suffixed with “-ation” relates to process/action/result of a process/state or quality. And with Alokation too I am trying to do the same thing. I am in the life-long process of self-discovery which I term as “Alokation”. There may be some result of this self realization which will be shared through alokation thats why it is again “Alokation”. And it is my quality that will be displayed here so again that’s why “Alokation”.

Now lets come to the history about this “Alokation”. As you would have realized through my bio that I am a Web Developer and also love to paint. The idea of alokation emerged some four years back from now (in 2011). I was in need of a website to display all my works. And I guess you would be aware that getting a web address of your name is too difficult unless you have a totally unique name which no one on the planet has. It was a very hard time deciding what should be my web address. All the usual domain with alok was already reserved. I tried various other combinations but either it was unavailable or it didnt sound good. I had also conducted an online poll on facebook to get ideas and here is a snap of same with all other names in consideration (some suggested by others).

Now though Meetalok got the most votes but a rethink on this gave me a sense that it is not what I want. Alokation was somehow my priority from start. Meetalok would have sounded like a website where you could meet me. It would turn out to be just a place to find me and get in touch with me. I had a bigger plan “to show to the world my life’s journey as I walk on my path” I wanted something which could define me in long run and not just something which would give a hint about my whereabouts. So all those thinking lead to confirming it finally as “Alokation”.

I would also like to share here a more interesting part with alokation which never evolved from ideation phase.
At starting I had a more bigger plan with alokation which was to define it as a process to ignite your passion. It was aimed at everyone and I had thought I would make it as a platform where anyone could come and share their passion and find like minded people and grow together. I also had plan to term something like alokate which would be like joining my site. Once you alokate your-self you become a part of a bigger community who are undergoing alokation. Well all this was more of just a vague idea which never took a definite shape.

Alokation was registered finally and launched some two years after its conceptualization (in 2013). And since then I am adding bits and pieces to it. Hope someday I would be able to reach everyone and show to world my worth.
